Taking time to create.

Taking time to create. Just like the breath it's important. I found my balance in growing things, being grounded with the earth growing vegetables; cooking, and creating with fabric and thread when l began mothering. There is a beauty in birthing dreams and creating something. The act of mothering the sacrifice, time, the giving and receiving, the surrender, the joyfulness and the unlimitless love. It's not dissimilar to creating something from fabric and thread. The coming together of cloth, the blending of texture and colour, the joining of pieces and the making of something to be worn, hung or enjoyed. Each one of my pinnies, bags and quilts brings a joy and balance to my life.
This week l took some time away from cutting fabric for Sunday Pinnies, pants and intentional learning to play on my own. It called for new Bunting. I used my little trimmings pack from Umbrella prints and l love it. I also do custom bunting over here, if you are interested just contact me for pricing.
Made with the Trimmings pack, a couple of off cuts of Bird textile fabric from my scrap bag and a natural cotton binding l think it's earthy with a touch of the ocean for inspiration.

Here it is, what do you think?

21/52: a portrait project

" a portrait of my children, every week, for 2014."

Little Fox| the joy of sand through little fingers and woodland animals. I can't believe his talking all the time, running after his sister and getting interested in Intentional learning at home. It's such a wonderful time.

Miss Four| such a creative spirit. We have been shooting lots of photos lately of all the clothes and she's been telling the story through her toys, setting the scenes, choosing how things look. Growing up so fast and her creativity is astounding.

Siblings| So much to learn and a lesson in colouring pages.

You can read all about last year's 52/2013 project and see all the 52 portraits of my tribe here. It's been such a long, warm Autumn and I'm grateful for our adventures in nature. Collecting leaves, watching kookaburras and native birds in the trees. Seeing the vines change and the hills cast shadows, we spent last weekend taking it all in and I'll post more photos in Stills coming up next. It's been such a beautiful time. Taking time to rest, breathe and exhale. What have you been up to?

BITS + PIECES: Stills- a weekly collection

I've been really busy this past month sewing up a storm and after a week off I'm back at it. These Stills tell a story of our market stall and the love that goes into what is handmade. Handmade art packs for Intentional learning as part of our Green Tree Project, they are available in our new store come Monday for purchase. Sets of animal cards for learning and expressive play. Handmade bunting, Reversible Sunday pinnie's and Fox pants made for the everyday, for home, cloud watching and adventures. I'm proud of our Poppyfox creations, I make it all myself, I believe in it. My kids live in it, so this week I'm sharing it all here and our new shop. It's opening on Monday and I'm excited about it. I hope you will share the love, tell your friends and support, locally handmade and reclaimed goods. I'll be running an Intentional learning giveaway so stay tuned. Exciting times.

The rain has been welcome but unfortunebtly the neighbours cat decided it was amusing to dig up my carrots so I'm at a loss about how to cat proof my garden. If the rain holds off I'm going to get the tribe out to weed, mulch and plant out more of the garden. It's looking good though. How's your garden going?
