Turning 2, sewing up a storm + a giveaway

this is a sponsored post

Poppyfoxathome turned 2 this week, YAY! It's a pretty huge moment thinking about the story we have shared here over the last two years.  It was great to have my balloons turn up from Poppies for Grace to help me get my party on for my birthday and my blog birthday this week.
To celebrate turning two I'm running a couple of giveaways this month that symbolise what we love, how we celebrate and the things that make us a tribe. This week it's fabric fat quarter pack perfect for all those sewing projects for our little people and us. Whether it be a camera strap, a toy bag for the kids or a patchwork pillow, really you could make just about anything if you win.
Today it's our second giveaway. The lovely Clair at clairsfabrics asked me whether I'd be interested in a back to school giveaway and I was happy to oblige. The online shop is a new edition to my local area and you can even arrange to pop in by appointment and have a chat and shop at her home where the extensive bolts of fabrics line her front room.
I adore the contemporary fabrics she stocks, Clair is passionate about fabric and she's a great help in organising what you need for your sewing projects. I've been enjoying making up Fox pants and Sunday pinnies with the fabrics I bought a few weeks ago for the market coming up. The pinnies and fox pants will be available on my big cartel store this weekend when l launch it with lots of custom order spots. I've been really busy with my two munchkins these holidays and cutting lots of fabric ready for clothes, bibs and market goodies for the Chestnut festival on the 4th of May.

...............................................................................................................

Clairsfabrics  are giving away a set of fat quarters valued at $30. To enter simple leave a comment below, become a member or follow me on Instagram @thepoppyfox and leave a comment. The winner will be chosen randomly and announced in this post on Monday 28th at 8pm. This giveaway is open to international readers.

Best of luck!

Miss Four| such a simple thing but the joy on your face patting a little pig, a goat and cuddling a rabbit was such a beautiful thing to behold.

Mothering with acceptance, reflecting 15 months on- The wellbeing series

"It's good to leave each day behind, like flowing water, free of sadness. Yesterday is gone and its tale told. Today new seeds are growing." Rumi

I came across this saying a while ago and it's been a reminder to be present in my daily life and practice awareness. Not just about my surroundings, but also with my mothering, what's happening for my children and to look within. Living with mindfulness that each new day holds new possibilities.

It's easy to get caught up in old scripts, letting the past take hold and allow negative experiences to dictate the present, or to let a bad day {days} with the kids dictate the week ahead. It's a conscious decision to walk from it, to move beyond it, and I confess it's been hard to do it this week. It's also made me stop, breathe deeply and focus on love instead of my stream of thoughts. Challenging behaviors from my wee ones has left me feeling like I'm mothering in the trenches for much of this week. I've been drained without an ounce of compassion or patience.... I'm that exhausted. I can admit it. The end of the kinder term saw a huge shift in energy with Miss 4. Little Fox continues to teethe and want to be held and there just doesn't seem enough to go round.

I recognise it's during these times, that it's easy to be hurt by careless words and left teary. To react rather than take a step back and focus on what's happening in the body, to refocus on the heart, to actively embrace and accept God's grace and love. I've been incredibly emotional this week and instead of squashing it down like I've done in the past, I've embraced it with acceptance and honesty. Being a mum is hard work. I've needed some care and support and I'm ok with that.

I'm learning to take a deep breath and let the day that's been go, to address hurts on the spot and process them. I'm finding it's easier that way, but it is still a process. My mother embraced me with tears in my eyes the other day and gave me exactly what I needed a steaming bowl of scrambled eggs and understanding. It meant the world to me right then. I didn't feel so alone.
Last week l sat by the river with Little Fox and watched the flow and ebb of the river. I realised that it's life; it's mothering, the flow, the constancy, and the changing current, the shifting of direction and lack of control at times. The need to trust and have faith. It's up to us to either embrace the changes with love and acceptance or continue to experience resistance.
Our daily experience is like a river and I'm letting the current take me where I need to go. I trust that even in my limitations that God will instill in me all I need and the wisdom to be a good and loving wife and mother.  I want to mother with love and be an example of kindness, acceptance and understanding to my children. I might feel lacking right now but no matter what I will love, I will be there for my little ones, tears and all and I will be honest about the journey with them. I think it's the greatest example I can provide for them. Miss 4 hugged me before falling asleep tonight, she said no matter what you do, it doesn't change that I love you. They were my words said to her over the years, feed right back into my heart, right when I needed a reminder. Letting go of all that's been, knowing that tomorrow is abundant with new possibilities.
I'm breathing deeply, I'm letting go. I'm resting, embracing grace and opening my heart.
Tomorrow is a new day.

How do you navigate the waters of your own life? What helps you stay grounded?

BITS + PIECES: Stills- a weekly collection

Our weeks have been filled with craft, piles of fabric, sounds of the sewing machine, things bubbling away on the stove and adventures in nature. What has been happening with you? Have you pulled out the slow cooker yet? I just shared my Dark Ale beef stew over here if you're interested in something delicious for dinner.

Our Week in Stills-
1-7. Creative unleashed was such a wonderful experience last weekend past. No kids, a room full of creative types run by Magdalena, amazing sweets by nector & stone, workshops by Kitiya Palaskas, Emma vanleestAllira of Freckles and Ginger and lastly, Gemma Patford. I met some great women and played all day. Absolute heaven and I'm so grateful for the opportunity {check out the other workshops here}.
8-11. Intentional learning, Miss 4 teaching her brother how to hold a picnic. Seasonal vegetables, a teapot and lots if friends. Little fox really got into it.
12-16. Time by the river watching the water, breathing it all in and stopping for a while. It grounds me like little else does.  Cloud watching and picnics in the park.
17. This beautiful rainbow serpent in chalk by Miss 4.
18-19. Intentional learning at home- opposites and doing puzzles. And imaginative play with rainbows, wooden toys and schleich figurines. I'm also holding a giveaway so don't forget to take a look and leave a comment here. There's four giveaways this month to celebrate our blog birthday, Poppyfoxathome is turning 2!
